Yes, you read that right. This pizza dough is made IN THE FOOD PROCESSOR! Isn't that nuts??? I thought so, too, until I tried it years ago. It made the softest, easiest pizza dough ever! Pizza is my husband's love language, so we've spent a lot of time making pizza in this household!
He loves classic pepperoni pizza. I love pizza with just a bit of olive oil and a variety of fruit, greens, and nuts on top. My most recent pizza craving has been pears, blue cheese, walnuts and spinach. I drizzle a little bit of balsamic vinegar on right when it comes out of the oven, and OMG, it is heaven!
This dough can also be made ahead of time and placed in the refrigerator for a several hours. If you do this, I recommend removing it from the refrigerator 30 minutes before rolling it out!
The greatest thing about pizza is that it can easily be made with a ton of different veggies. You can customize it just how you want! I hope you'll enjoy your new favorite pizza dough!
What goes into this pizza dough?
active dry yeast (1 packet)
Coarse Kosher salt
How do you make this delicious pizza dough??
Get your yeast going! Place water, yeast, and sugar in a measuring cup, and whisk to combine. Let sit 5 minutes, or until it begins to foam slightly. Meanwhile, place the flour and salt in the bowl of a food processor.
Prepare flour mixture. Pulse the flour and salt 2-3 times to mix together. Add the olive oil, and turn the food processor on. With the food processor running, pour yeast mixture into the food processor. Let the dough come together, this will take about 30 seconds. Once the dough begins to come together, stop the food processor to be sure the dough is not too dry. If the dough is too dry, add more water, 1 TBSP at a time, until the dough is soft, but not sticky.
Let the food processor run for 2-3 minutes, until a soft dough is formed. NOTE: about halfway through mixing, you may need to stop the food processor and move the dough off the blades and sides of the bowl. One the dough has formed, remove from the food processor and knead into a smooth bowl.
Let the dough take a nap! Place dough ball into a medium bowl, that has been oiled. Cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let sit 30-45 minutes, or until it is doubled in size.
While the dough rises, preheat the oven to 400°F. Once doubled determine if you want to have 1 large pizza or 2 small/medium pizzas. Cut the dough, if needed, and roll to desired thickness. Let sit 5-10 minutes, and roll just a bit more. Place desired toppings on pizza, and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown. ENJOY!
